This year’s scramble is Friday, June 8, 2012 at My Old Kentucky Home Golf Course located in Bardstown, KY. Communicare is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Lincoln Trail Area for over forty years. All proceeds from the Communicare 2nd Annual Golf Scramble will directly benefit the Guthrie Opportunity Center which is operated by Communicare. This program supports individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to remain and become a vital part of their communities. I would like to remind everyone that the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Nelson County is fast approaching. Relay For Life will begin May 11th at 5:00 pm going through May 12th at 10:00am. The bidding on the silent auction baskets will be from 5:00 - 8:30. Each basket is worth a minimum of $50. The survivor ceremony will begin at 7:00 pm and the Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 10:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend and help Nelson County in their fight against cancer. Our theme this year is "It's Time For A Cure" and I am sure you all agree that it is time for a cure. The downtown merchants are helping us this year in painting the town purple. They will be decorating their windows in support of us and we will be hanging purple ribbons all over town. Please plan on attending and making a donation to help us in our fight against cancer. Sykes is seeking Customer Service Representatives at 227 Kentucky Home Square. Starting pay is $9/hr with incentives and a shift differential. During training, a 3% incentive can be earned each pay period by meeting the attendance goals. Upon graduation, a $.50 shift differential is applied for hours worked after 6pm Monday through Friday and all hours worked Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the 3% attendance incentive, an additional 6% incentive can be earned each pay period by meeting performance metrics. Lincoln Trail Workforce Investment Board is making plans for a 2012 Summer Program for youth beginning in May. The goal is to provide eligible young adults out of high school and between the ages of 18-21 with meaningful work experience related to their career goal or college major. Wages are subsidized by funds from the federal Workforce Investment Act and range from $7.25 to $10.00 per hour. The wage paid should be equal to the entry-level wage of regular employees in a similar position. If the youth is not going back to school, we encourage employers to keep them as permanent employees. By doing so you may be eligible for a period of wage reimbursement through on-the-job training if the youth is required to learn additional skills. This programming will air Monday through Friday evenings from 6:30 pm to 10 pm Our belief is that the over 9,000 homes covered by Bardstown Cable will look forward to being able to see City Council. Fiscal Court, School Board, and other public meetings on their home TV. BRTV HOMETOWN TELEVISION will also feature local political, sports, and human interest programming elements.
